The occurrence of the red alga Ceramium cingulatum associated with Gelidium serrulatum, in the Western Atlantic Ocean, is reported for the first time. C. cingulatum is characterized by thallus rod-shaped, creeping and erect habit, branching absent, tetrasporangia protruding and verticillate. The specimens were collected in the intertidal zone of Puerto Cruz, Vargas State and Los Coquitos, Aragua State, Venezuela. A description of the species is presented with morphological and reproductive data, habitat and geographical distribution.
