Abstract

ARROYO, Jesús et al. Determination of Manganesum and Potassium in cement and gypsum samples by Slurry-FIAAS and alkaline fussion as analytical alternatives to the conventional procedure of leaching. Rev. Téc. Ing. Univ. Zulia [online]. 2002, vol.25, n.1, pp.42-48. ISSN 0254-0770.

In this work, a study of two procedures, by Slurry-FIA and alkaline fusion, for Manganese and Potassium determination in cement and gypsum commercial samples is carried out using flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). The two procedures were tested as alternative analytical methods to the conventional leaching method, traditionally used by the cement industry. The comparative advantages of the procedures are traduced in lower times and analysis costs and adequate analytical quality of the results. For comparison and accuracy evaluation of the procedures, four reference samples with similar composition to the cement and gypsum commercial samples were analyzed. Calibration against aqueous standards was possible in all cases. Significance test application to the results obtained for the two procedures and to the certified in reference samples shows no statistically significant differences. The results precision was always around 5% relative standard deviation or less for five repetitions.
