Abstract

MARTINEZ, Yadira  and  RIVERO, Carmen. Effect of the paper sludge use on N, P, and K on two soils of agriculture importance at the Valencia lake basin. Rev. Téc. Ing. Univ. Zulia [online]. 2007, vol.30, n.Especial, pp.63-70. ISSN 0254-0770.

The residual sludge incorporation in to the soil improves the soil chemical conditions, due to the incorporation of organic matter. The sludge constitutes a potential source of macronutrientes and micronutrientes. In this work it was evaluated, at greenhouse level, the effect of the incorporation of different dose of paper sludge (LP) and the culture presence on the nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium content of two soil of contrasting pH. The soils were incubated in the greenhouse at 70% of the soil field capacity during 28 days and then four plants of corn were sowed by each unit in the cultivated treatments. The plants grew during 5 weeks. Three evaluations were carried out, along the experience, and the nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium contents were determined. The results showed that the paper sludge addition increases the total nitrogen content; nevertheless it causes the decrease of the phosphorus and potassium available levels.

Keywords : Sludge; nitrogen; phosphorus; potassium.
