In institutions of public health that attends to children and teenagers, it is indispensable to guarantee the quality of their services but much more even the cost of supporting this quality. Is for that reason, the main point of this investigation was to determine the qualit costs of service of clinical laboratory. In order to reach this purpose, a considered exploratory and descriptive study was made, under a study of cases. Inside which, the observation and the interview was in use as instruments of compilation of information. Obtaining as result that give themselves two fundamental processes in the service, one for ambulatory patients and other one for hospitalized. There were identified for both processes a whole of 162 examinations and 6 activities that are realized united to a set of tasks, which were grouped depending on the theory of the qualit cost in prevention, evaluation and internal faults; without the external faults exist for this case of study. According to the obtained results it is considered to the clinical laboratory in an ideal level of quality, Which reflects in their costs 12% of the total cost of the service and 56% correspond to costs of prevention; justifying to diminish the risk of mistakes in the service.
