Resumen
BRACHO, Nibis et al. Pilot-scale evaluation of color removal, iron, oil and grease in groundwater. Rev. Téc. Ing. Univ. Zulia [online]. 2013, vol.36, n.1, pp.53-60. ISSN 0254-0770.
The drinking water treatment plant La Salina, shows high value of color, iron, oils and fats. The objective of this research is to evaluate pilot-scale removal of the above parameters using different arrangements of filters and columns separation. In the first instance there was a assessment of the plant in order to compare with pilot-scale results. The second step consists of laboratory-scale study for selecting the number of columns for separating oils and fats. Finally, pilot scale arrangements analyzed three arrangements: a) separation of oils and fats; b) aeration columns followed by separation of oils and fats more slow sand filter, c) aeration columns, separation of oils and fats, more mixed sand filter and activated carbon. The evaluation of the plant concentrations obtained from 9.30 mg/L oild and fat, 0.56 mg/L > 0.3mg/L of iron, 49 UC> 15 UC , color, 9> 5 NTU turbidity and an aggressive tendency water with a Langelier Index of -0.63, which was stabilized with lime dose of 30 mg/L. The plant problem is solved with the alternative C. The effluent meets the permissible levels, 0.22 mg/L, 5 NTU of turbidity, 15 UC of color and 0.1 mg/L of oils and fats.
