MARTINEZ SOTO, Moisés; RODRIGUEZ MONROY, Carlos; GIL ARAUJO, Marcelo e MORRIS DIAZ, Anne. System dynamics in the simulation of the effect of knowledge management on the supply chain of corn agroindustry (Zea mays L.). Rev. Téc. Ing. Univ. Zulia [online]. 2013, vol.36, n.1, pp.80-90. ISSN 0254-0770.
System dynamics is a suitable tool for building managementmodels, because of its easy application in solving unstructured problems. In the 21st century the sustainability of organizations is influenced by the way in which they manage their knowledge. In this sense, knowledge management (KM) represents a strategy that contributes to the improvement of production of the supply chain (SC) of the corn industry (CI). The aim of this research is to develop an Information Technology (IT) model that enables the simulation of the effect of KM on the CI production. The methodology applied was that of System Dynamics through the use of the Vensim PLE ® v. 5.10 software, whose determinant indicators were selected through an empirical study of KM in the SC of the precooked corn flour industry in Venezuela. In the study it was concluded that the balanced application of KM practices both in the strategic dimension and in the functional dimension, achieves an increase in production through the stabilization of the system. In this respect, it is recommended to continue with the evaluation of the developed methodology in other agro-industrial environments.
