REQUENA, Alejandro; DELGADO, Luisa A; GUERRERO, Clara y KRAUTER, Mónica. Evaluation of optical texture in petroleum coke commercial units of delayed coking. Rev. Téc. Ing. Univ. Zulia [online]. 2014, vol.37, n.1, pp.29-37. ISSN 0254-0770.
Textural characterization was carried out on six beds of commercial delayed coker units, by capturing samples in the upper, middle and bottom of the coking drums. The evaluated beds differ in nature of handled load, in conditions of operation and size of the coke drums. The results indicate that there is not heterogeneity in terms of chemical composition on the coke produced in the same unit. However, for the same coker, it was observed that increasing the aromaticity of the load process results in a raise in the rate of optical texture of coke; nevertheless, for a given load, this increase varies with changing conditions of operation and size of the coke drums due to the effect of these parameters on the thermal and hydrodynamic profile developed in the coking drums.
