Resumen
ANGULO, Nancy et al. Comparing operating conditions of a sequencing batch reactor in treating dairy effluent. Rev. Téc. Ing. Univ. Zulia [online]. 2015, vol.38, n.1, pp.50-57. ISSN 0254-0770.
It was applied two conditions of an industrial effluent dairy treatment sequential batch reactor at pilot scale, in order to achieve a higher removal of organic matter and nutrients in the effluent, complying with environmental regulations Venezuelan for download or for reuse. The first operational condition involving the use of a sequence of steps anaerobic-aerobic I-anoxic I and the second condition for a sequence used anaerobic- aerobic I-anoxic I-aerobic II-anoxic II. Microbiological parameters were determined as nitrogen fixing bacteria, nitrifying, denitrifying and heterotrophic mesophilic and physicochemical parameters chemical oxygen demand, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen, for six cycles of operation for each condition. The first condition is achieved a 72% removal of chemical oxygen demand, 60% of the TKN and 45% total phosphorus, while the second condition proved to be more efficient as it obtained a 85% removal chemical oxygen demand, 92% of the TKN and 45% total phosphorus. The dairy effluent cannot be discharged into natural water body, because the parameters are still above the maximum permissible limits.
