Abstract

To date, the mechanical tests performed on Bamboo-Guadua have focused on its characterization, but not in the analysis of test parameters as such, and consequently is not carried out uniformly in its realization method, which leads to the values obtained may not be compared and analyzed statistically. So in this paper, we conducted compression tests parallel to fibers to assess their response to variations in test parameters and thus perform some validations. These tests were carried out at the Universidad del Quindío, to assess the implementation of the protocols contained in the ISO-N314-22157, developed by the International Network of Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR). Assays were carried out following the protocol for dry and immunized Bamboo-Guadua with commercial characteristics for use in construction. The cross sectional measurement was performed by two different methods. During testing different speeds applied load to observe the variation of results, obtaining the stress-strain diagrams, and estimating the maximum resistance and possible failure modes for each specimen.
