Abstract
OSORIO, Juliana and QUINTERO, Juan Carlos. Decolorization of industrial dye Erionyl Turquoise by the white rot fungi Bjerkandera sp. R1. Rev. Téc. Ing. Univ. Zulia [online]. 2018, vol.41, n.1, pp.32-40. ISSN 0254-0770.
The effluents from textile industries and manufacturers of dyes cause a negative environmental impact, mainly due to its high load of dye and recalcitrant compounds. In order to reduce these problems, textile effluents should be treated before being discharged into natural water bodies. In this work, the use of biological process for degradation of recalcitrant dyes, type phthalocyanine, using the white rot fungi anamorphous Bjerkandera sp. R1 was evaluated. Decolorization of industrial dye Erionyl Turquoise by the white rot fungi anamorphous Bjerkandera sp. R1 was performed in submerged batch culture using different initial concentration of the dye. The percentage of decolorization reached 70-80% in a seven days treatment. The toxicity reduction was 64%. Based on the obtained results a possible novel degradation pathway for the dye Erionyl Turquoise was proposed.
