Abstract

MUJICA F, Viky-C  and  LINARES A, Carlos F. Effect of the synthesis method of Ni-Al hydrotalcites as support of CoMo catalysts in hydrotreatment reactions. Rev. Téc. Ing. Univ. Zulia [online]. 2018, vol.41, n.1, pp.41-49. ISSN 0254-0770.

Ni-Al hydrotalcites (HDL-s) were synthesized using the co-precipitation (CP) and radiation by microwave (RM) methods. Then, these hydrotalcites were calcined and impregnated with Co and Mo to produce catalytic precursors (PC) active to hydrotreating reactions. Solids were characterized by: X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DR-UV) and BET surface measurements. The cell parameters: a, c and crystal sizes were characteristic of synthesized hydrotalcites and their oxides. All studied PC were active to thiophene hydrodesulfurization (HDS) and cyclohexene hydrogenation (HID) reactions. In addition, it was observed that the synthesis method and the pH affect the characteristics of support and increase the metal-support interactions in the catalytic precursors (PC) affecting the studied reactions.

Keywords : Ni-Al hydrotalcites; support; co-precipitation (CP); microwave radiation (RM); thiophene hydrodesulfurization; cyclohexene hydrogenation.
