FIGUEROA BURDILES, Noelia. From Subalternity to Decolonialty: notes on Alterity and the Mapuche People. Argos [online]. 2012, vol.29, n.57, pp.80-93. ISSN 0254-1637.
This paper addresses the subalternity and decoloniality conceptualizations as explanatory categories of power relations in Latin American contexts, and examination of the relationship of these categories with the Mapuche poetic discourse, through an interpretive analysis. This analysis allows us to observe that the Mapuche poets seek to overcome a condition of subordination imposed by colonization, by means of the redefinition of their own power, supported by the Mapuche worldview and its relationship with nature. Making this kind of reading is part of the process of decolonization, to contribute to dialogue on an equal footing and to reverse the colonial categories that continue to favor the conflict between the Chilean state and the Mapuche people.
