This work focus on the way in which family members of the “Familiares de Desaparecidos y Detenidos por Razones Políticas” organization give sense to the death of their loved ones who disappeared in the context of the last military dictatorship in the Argentina. We observe, in this way, a type of confrontation with death that I call unattended meanwhile, due to the lack of body and the absence of its official recognition, it is not processed through rituals that adequately articulate the event of death, and attend to the dead and the bereaved in spaces of social containment. This unattended death creates an existential ambiguity in the private sphere and a political resistance to accepting the deaths by the disappearance of the bodies in the public arena.
