This article analyzes the aesthetic transformation process of poetry in the middle of the Venezuelan 20th century, taking as a main interest the avant-garde literary groups. Apocalipsis, one of the first to be formed during the pretorian dictatorial decade (1948-1958), shows this process when it assimilates the surralistic discourse as an appropiation with an innovative purpose, pretending to oust the values of the premodern lyric to a peripheral rank.
