Abstract

In hydroxyapatite samples, both natural (i. e. human tooth enamel) and synthetic with Ca/P values of 1.57, 1.67 and 177, were analyzed by DTA, TGA and TPD in the range of temperature from 20°C to 600°C. The results indicate that the ion (HO)- is the first one in leave the hydroxyapatite´s unit cell. This represents the evidence that the experimental observations reported recently, such as conductivity and some incompatibilities with the hydroxyapatite´s crystallography space group, correspond to this movement of the ion (OH)-. All these results are also supported by the analysis of infrared spectroscopy FTIR of these samples.
