Abstract     In oxides of Pseudobrookite type such as MgTiO 5 , FeTiO 5 and Al 2 TiO 5 , some properties as elastic modulus, coefficient of thermal expansion and thermal conductivity depend mainly on the material grain size. It has not been found in the literature E , a and K values of Al 2 TiO 5 materials completely free of microcracks. The purpose of this paper is to determine the elastic modulus of Al 2 TiO 5 particles from the structural material study of Al 2 O 3 - Al 2 TiO 5 with controlled microstructure. Two compound materials have been characterized Al 2 O 3 - Al 2 TiO 5 (5 and 10 % Al 2 TiO 5 ) and Al 2 O 3 as a reference material with similar microstructural characteristics: Approximately 98.6% Theoric density, particle homogeneous dispersion and controlled grain size Al 2 O 3 ( Æ < 4 m m) and Al 2 TiO 5 ( Æ < 2.2 m m). From experimental E obtained and the application of Voigt and Reuss models, E value de Al 2 TiO 5 particles inferior to 2.2 m m has been exactly estimated. This result is consistent with E values from other pseudobrookite oxides free from microcracks.
