The effect of a series of support mixtures (MgO-La ₂ O ₃ ) on NiO has been studied, by the MEB-EDX, X ray diffraction, TPR, BET, Kelvin Prove and IR; in order to know the different interactions that there are between the active phase and the support components. It was found that NiO displays a strong interaction both with La ₂ O ₃ and with MgO, depending mainly on the proportion of these components. Measures of surface potential show some evidences of a synergetic effect on oxygen chemisorption.
