Hollomon´s equation from a tension test for AISI 1040 steel and pure copper both in an annealed condition has been used to predict the yield strength of both materials after being cold-worked by rolling. The yield strength of the cold-worked materials was experimentally determinated by means of tension tests and compared to those values estimated through Hollomon´s equation. The experimental yield strength values were always lower than those calculated by means of Hollomon´s equation. A Modified Hollomon´s equation with a deformation factor is presented in order to obtain the right values. It is expected that the factor will be characteristic of the forming process for each metal.
