Abstract

PEREZ, Francisco J; LIRA-OLIVARES, Joaquín; HIERRO, María P.  and  TIRADO, Jesús. Estudio de la Factibilidad de formación de Estudio de la Factibilidad de formación de Recubrimientos Protectores por CVD en Lecho Fluidizado Sobre la Aleación de Titanio. Rev. LatinAm. Met. Mat. The feasibility of the formation of aluminum protective coatings by chemical vapor deposition in fluidized bed reactor (CVD-FBR) on the titanium alloy Ti-15Mo-Al and the influence of temperature and gas molar relation on the deposition process have been studied.  Before performing the experiments, thermochemical calculations were attained using the free-energy minimization method provided by the HSC Chemistry software, as a designing factor of conditions to deposition of Al on titanium alloy. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), mapping elements and -X-Ray diffraction have been employed to characterize the coatings obtained. For conditions of H2/HCl=31/1 and H2/HCl=15/1, both at 395ºC for one hour, the titanium alloy Ti-15Mo-Al exhibits a very thin aluminum layer. The thicknesses of the aluminum layers are 0.58 and 0.87mm for gas relations of H2/HCl=31/1 and H2/HCl=15/1 respectively. According to these results, the CVD-FBR is viable for the process of aluminum deposition on y the titanium alloy Ti-15Mo-Al.
