In this paper it was made the isolation and structural characterization of asphaltenes and other natural surfactants extracted from Carabobo extra-heavy Venezuelan crude oil using modified Soxhlet extraction method. The results suggest in the isolated acid fraction the presence of almost two types of compounds, where one of them is a compound with acid characteristics and low molecular weight, while the other show high molecular weight and characteristic very similar to asphaltenes.
