Abstract
BOLIVAR, Genaro et al. VISCOELASTIC STUDY OF POLYACRYLAMIDE AND ORGANIC ACIDS COPOLYMERS HYDROGELS IN ORDER TO IMPROVE THE OIL RECOVERY FACTOR. Rev. LatinAm. Metal. Mater. [online]. 2011, vol.31, n.2, pp.150-160. ISSN 0255-6952.
Two gel systems were synthesized based on the acrylamide (AAm) which was copolymerized with acrylic acid (AAc) and the itaconic acid (AI) to evaluate if the properties of itaconic acid (AI) system improve the recovery factor in oil wells in order to reduce water production. The gels were prepared by copolymerization the way radicals free in aqueous solution at different compositions (comonomer content was modified between 0 and 13 mmol of whole feed amount). Potassium persulfate (K2S2O8) was used as initiator and N, N´-metilenbisacrylamide (MBAAm) as crosslinking agent. Viscoelastic studies were carried in Range Viscoelastic Line (RVL). It was obtained that the gels of AAm/AI have a lower elastic behavior compared with systems based on AAm and AAm/AAc. At pH 8 there is a marked effect on the storage and loss modules (G 'and G'') for systems of AAm/AI compared to those of AAm/AAc that differ in his behavior to acid conditions. The ratio of comonomers showed a fall of the modules by the AI effect. The morphologic study was performed by scanning electronic microscopy
