Abstract
RODRIGUEZ P, Edda et al. Characterization of the ultrasonic response of a duplex stainless steel saf 2205 during sigma phase dissolution. Rev. LatinAm. Metal. Mater. [online]. 2012, vol.32, n.1, pp.49-60. ISSN 0255-6952.
In the present study, the behavior of the ultrasonic variables of velocity and attenuation of longitudinal ultrasonic waves measured in specimens of duplex stainless steel SAF 2205 is evaluated. The study includes the evaluation of specimens that have been treated at 875 º C and 950 º C in order to promote the presence of sigma phase and its dissolution during different periods of time at 950 º C. The results reveal an increase of the velocity of longitudinal ultrasonic waves as sigma phase fraction is increased and a decreasing of this parameter when sigma dissolves. Furthermore, results of attenuation coefficient for each one of the specimens show the effect derived from microstructural changes produced by thermal treatments.
