Abstract

OCHOA, José Luis; GONZALEZ, Gema  and  LOZADA, Lisbeth. Microstructural transformation in situ and its correlation with the electrical resistivity in aluminiun alloy A-6061. Rev. LatinAm. Metal. Mater. [online]. 2012, vol.32, n.2, pp.185-194. ISSN 0255-6952.

In the present work, a comparative study between the variation of electrical resistivity as a function of the dynamic temperature and the phase transformations observed in the aluminium AA-6061 alloy was carried out, during “in situ” TEM aging. By this method, it was possible observe the growth of precipitates. For isothermal aging between 200 y 350°C the formation of the phases β´´ and β´ was observed. At higher temperatures, the subsequent transformation to β phase, and the redissolution of phases at temperatures above 450°C was also observed. Particularly, the metastable phases β´´ and β´ reached their maximum size between 220 and 350°C. In another type of experiment, the electrical resistivity measured up, being observed that the variations shown by this parameter were directly associated with the phase transformations, and they were also strongly influenced by the presence of the phases β´´ and β´.
