LINARES, Carlos F. et al. EFFECT OF HYDROCALUMITE CALCINATION AS CATALYST SUPPORT ON THIOPHENE HYDRODESULFURIZATION REACTION. Rev. LatinAm. Metal. Mater. [online]. 2014, vol.34, n.1, pp.172-179. ISSN 0255-6952.
A Ca and Al lamellar double solid, hydrocalumite, was synthesized by using the co-precipitation method in a basic medium (pH =11). Then, this solid was calcined between 400 and 900°C, and characterized by different techniques such as: X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-Transformed infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and surface area measurements (BET) to determine different phases and structural parameters. After that, supports were impregnated with Mo and Co solutions as active phase and promoter respectively. Finally, catalysts were tested in the thiophene hydrodesulfurization as model reaction. Results showed that catalytic activity depend on calcination temperature of support. Catalytic support more active was that calcined at 800°C.
