ROJAS-MORENO, Bexy; CASARES, Marjorie; VILORIA, Francisca y CHAPARRO-MARTINEZ, Exio. Bibliometric Analysis of Published Scientific Literature in the Facultad de Ciencias Veterinarias Journal of the Universidad Central de Venezuela: Period 2002-2011. I: Production Indexes. Rev. Fac. Cienc. Vet. [online]. 2013, vol.54, n.1, pp.47-56. ISSN 0258-6576.
The purpose of this study was to perform a bibliometric analysis on production of scientific literature published in the Journal of the Facultad de Ciencias Veterinarias of the Universidad Central de Venezuela (FCV-UCV) during the period 2002-2011. To accomplish this, we considered the research published in this journal in the selected period, and applied bibliometric indicators of production (chronologic distribution, scientific production, thematic categorization, productivity of authors, co-authorship, and institutional cooperation). Those articles which did not conform to the typical structure of the journal (introduction, materials and methods, results, and conclusions), such as review articles, letters to the editor, reflections, editorials or brief informative notes were omitted. One hundred and six scientific articles were evaluated; determining that only since 2002, there was a continuous frequency of this journal with an increased production in the areas of veterinary pathology and animal production, with an average of 10.6 items/volume, and a weighted productivity of 0.39 articles/author, with 4.06 signatories/article. Over 75% of the articles published in this period had among its authors at least one member of the Faculty of Veterinary, and more than 70% of the authors published only once. Among the external institutions involved in the production of this magazine, highlights the Faculty of Agronomy of the UCV. The regular updating of these studies and the inclusion of other indicators not considered at this time, such as impact and dissemination is recommended.
