RUBIO, Rafael et al. Lipoproteínas e hipertensión inducida por el embarazo. Gac Méd Caracas [online]. 2003, vol.111, n.3, pp.197-2005. ISSN 0367-4762.
Pregnancy induced hypertension is a present complication in 5 % to 10 % of the pregnancies and it is an important cause of maternal and fetal morbimortality. In this paper we evaluate the relationship of lipoproteins (very low, low and high density) serum levels, during the second and third trimesters, with the development of pregnancy induced hypertension, in 55 pregnant patients, under 25 years old, who received prenatal care at "Dr. José Gregorio Hernández" General Hospital, between July 1999 - July 2000. Hypertension was present in 8 pregnant patients with mild preeclampsia and in 1 with severe preeclampsia. In this group of hypertensive pregnants, mean and standar deviation for the very low density lipoproteins, expressed in mg/dL, were: 45 ± 14 against 33 ± 10 in the normotensive (or control) pregnants. Same values for the low density lipoproteins were: 158 ± 46 against 137 ± 37 in the control group. For the high density lipoproteins were: 56 ± 14 aganinst 59 ± 11 in the control group. The high serum levels of the very and the low density lipoproteins in addition with the low serum levels of the high density lipoproteins, are related to the development of pregnancy induced hypertension.
