Resumen

PERDOMO DE PONCE, Doris. Asma: lo nuevo, lo viejo y medidas de prevención "Asma: nuevos avances en prevención"*. Gac Méd Caracas [online]. 2005, vol.113, n.2, pp.167-173. ISSN 0367-4762.

It is evident from the development of immune responsiveness that future strategies for primary prevention of asthma will concentrate on the pre and perinatal periods. A number of factors have been shown to increase or decrease fetal sensitization to allergens in relation to gestational age. Once allergic sensitization has occurred, we can prevent the development of asthma. Observations suggest that early prevention to offending allergen is high effective in symptoms resolution to continue exposure. The named tertiary prevention, can reduce symptoms and medication needs, when a variety of factors induce asthma. Prevention without education is ineffective. A public education about asthma symptoms allow the patient and family go earlier to a medical attention, and follow their asthma therapeutic management program. This review lets analyze new and future prevention guides based on patient development periods, and their applications by molecular ways of the chronic inflammatory process involving the bronchial respiratory airway.
