In the last decades, the extraordinary progress achieved by medical science and technology, as it is evident in the basic sciences, diagnoses procedures and therapeutic resources, has permitted to relieve the disease’s suffering, improving and increasing also the quality and the expectative of life of the modern man. A lot of this achievement is a direct consequence of information expansion and globalization that is possible today with sophisticated computers and the extraordinary fast connection net, Internet, which save time and distances, and permits immediate and updated information. However, this progress resulted also as a boomerang, producing changes in patient attention, whose personal and intimate character, has become impersonal and fragmentary, attended by multiple physicians and health care institutions. As a consequence of these changes, the family doctor and the generalist physician have lost their leadership and the medical-patient relationship, angular stone of medical act, has been significantly deteriorated. Our reflections about the changes supported by medical activities should consider the minor importance given by new medicals generations to the medical history and physician-patient relationship, underestimated and substituted by the technological innovations. Our conclusions allow us to consider that: 1. Medicine is more an art than a science; 2. In the physician-patient relationship should prevail the humanistic values and the characteristic professionalism of the noble medical art; 3. The medical attention desideratum is to obtain a good level of empathy that makes possible a satisfactory physician-patient relationship; 4. Medical technology implementation is possible only under strict ethical pa-tterns; 5. Technology should be the physician’s tool but not his or her substitute; and 6. For the patient It is fundamental to observe in the physician an attitude of real interest in his or her person and his or her problematic with strict fulfill of humanistics and ethics values of the medical profession, as unconditional confident of his or her misfortunes.
