PORTILLO, Antonio Sarcos; COBO DE CHAVEZ, Ana María and GARCIA LEGL, Hildrun. Aplication of the Dynamic Structural analysis to obtaining approximate seismic rotational component. IMME [online]. 2001, vol.39, n.3, pp.13-22. ISSN 0376-723X.
Abstract After the Mexico City earthquake occurred in September of 1985, it was observed that one of the most usual causes of failure in buildings over soft soils was the loss of translational and rotational structural rigidity and the effect produced by the rotational seismic component on the foundation, this may cause partial or total building destruction because of loss of verticality, overturning or collision between neighboring structures. Currently, many buildings in the world are being instrumented with accelerometers placed in several levels and in many points at the same level. This allows us to get the dynamic structural response when the building is subjected to earthquake and its rotational and translational movements. In this work it is attempted to get an approximate value of the translational and rotational seismic component of an earthquake
