Abstract

UGARTE CALDERA, Andrés Francisco; SARCOS PORTILLO, Antonio  and  FLOREZ LOPEZ, Julio. Behavior of square tubes to monotonic bending. IMME [online]. 2006, vol.44, n.2, pp.01-20. ISSN 0376-723X.

The necessity of processes constructive rapids and economic, it has increased the use of the square tubes of steel in housings, buildings and commercial centres in the city of Maracaibo - Venezuela, however a normative one that explains its behaviour, doesn't exist when these they are subjected to flexion strong monotonic, and identify parameters like the resistant maximum moment, critic deformation for local buckling for compression, lost of traverse rigidity and others. In this work the theoretical behaviour is obtained (finite elements) and experimental (laboratory rehearsals) of subjected square tubes to strong monotonic bending, with the purpose of proposing a methodology to represent the detailed behaviour.

Keywords : Local Buckling; Critical Deformation; Finite Elements (E.F.).
