This paper presents aspects related to a methodology for three-dimensional positioning of a tool grasped by an industrial manipulator using a vision-based technique known as camera-space manipulation. The use of multiple sensors to perform a positioning maneuver entails the advantage of increasing the precision of the system while enlarging the manipulators workspace. The proposed methodology has been tested experimentally using an industrial Fanuc ArcMate 100i robot, with standard vision equipment and structured lighting that facilitates the procedure for analyzing the images of the arbitrary surfaces where the maneuver is performed.
