Abstract

JAIMES, Edgar; MENDOZA, José G.; RAMOS, Yalitza  and  PINEDA, Neida. Propiedad de la tierra y la seguridad agroalimentaria de venezuela. INCI [online]. 2002, vol.27, n.12, pp.656-663. ISSN 0378-1844.

Summary The Venezuelan Land and Agricultural Development Law, dated 11/13/2001, aims to establish the foundations of integral and sustainable rural development in order to increase the productivity of the land and, moreover, to establish equity and fair distribution of the land. Nevertheless, for the Venezuelan private sector, the aforementioned law constitutes an expropriation threat that would limit the productive use of the land. However, the main purpose of the law is to develop agricultural production in line with the dietary demands of the Venezuelan population, having as a fundamental premise the elimination of the large estates through the suitable redistribution of the great expanses of land that have remained idle and uncultivated for many years. The purpose of this study is to analyze the scope of some significant aspects of this law, principally those related to the ownership of the land, the type of use made of the land and the security of food production.
