This research presents the study of environmental behaviors and the present situation regarding garbage in an urban district of the city of Caracas, Venezuela, with the objective to support recommendations directed to maintained behavior changes, related to the handling and disposition of garbage. Through site observations and interviews to 25 women resident of the district, we obtained results that demonstrate a partially congruent behavior with beliefs, values and information they handle and express; it was demonstrated that a majority dispose garbage in unsuitable sites and declare to throw it through their home windows, to feed street animals. In general, their attitudes are not translated in concrete actions, showing most of the times an erroneous and fragmented perspective of the environmental problem, an extremely individualistic vision with participation styles that delegate and transfer «other people», the garbage collection company or to the State, the weight of the responsibilities regarding the environmental action.
