An important challenge to the philosophy and sociology of science is to unveil the mechanisms relating scientific production to social and economic development. Recently, Jaffé (2005) has shown that that relation is especially strong in those countries that have reached a certain degree of development, and has emphasized the need to discover mechanisms underlying such correlation. The so-called Sábato Triangle Model (Sábato, 2004) provides a lucid analysis on the sort of connections that should be established among the techno-scientific system, government and industry in order to promote balanced development. The model states that technological innovation is a mechanism for articulating science with industry, and that its promotion requires deliberate actions from the government. Herein other mechanisms are proposed, believed to be necessary for the appropriate functioning of Sabato’s triangle; namely, particular attitudes taught by the scientific method (critical attitude, creativity, and rigorousness; CCR). As a result, a model is put forth, which may also be represented by a triangle with one of the said attitudes at each of its vertexes, and it is stated that those societies whose educational systems are inspired in such "CCR triangle" promote cultures that drive integral development. Building that kind of culture demands deliberate actions from the government as well, especially in the educational field.
