Resumen

JUANICO, Luis. Thermal efficiency of balanced-flux gas space heaters: Measurement andeconomic impact on residential users. INCI [online]. 2007, vol.32, n.12, pp.854-856. ISSN 0378-1844.

The performance of the most common gas space heater used in residences in Argentina was experimentally investigated. Thermal efficiencies for indoor heating in the range of 40% to 60% were found, that can be qualified between poor and regular. The main design characteristics leading to the poor performance were identified. The present Argentinean standard for household gas heaters was discussed, showing that it overestimates the actual efficiency of these appliances. The role of traditionally low gas tariffs in the developing of these heaters in Argentina was discussed, as their disadvantage within an international scenario with non-subsidies tariffs.
