The aim of this study was to characterize the main structural style (geometry, structural trend and tectonic evolution) that involves structures of cretaceous and tertiary rocks in the "B" block, southern area of Lake Maracaibo, Zulia state. The methodology was founded in the following steps: creation of the database (well logs, 3D seismic data, regional geological studies), generation of synthetic seismic records, establishment of stratigraphic sequences, creation of seismic-structural sections, and generation of structural maps. The model presents a diversity of structural styles over imposed with structural trends NE-SE and dip SSE, developed in different events that change from late Jurassic to Miocene. The sequence of formation is shown as follows: normal faults associated to an extensive tectonic regime (late Jurassic-late Cretaceus) formation of detachment surfaces and inverted faults systems, inverted faults and left strike-slip faults with normal component and sinsedimentary effects (i.e. Lama-Icotea fault), related to a transpressional tectonic inversion period (Paleogene-Neogene), and structural collapses related to high rates of sedimentation and rise of lithostatic charge (Neogene).
