Carbon nanotubes are novel man-made structures which show unusual physical properties. Such properties have made from carbon nanotubes the target of many studies, which reveal their great potential in several areas such as Electronics, Physics and Biology. This work addresses basic concepts about chemistry, methods of obtaining and modification of the carbon nanotubes, as well as their potential applications in biological systems.
