MARIN, Arelys et al. Agromorphological, morphological and biochemical field characterization of cassava elite materials. INCI [online]. 2008, vol.33, n.5, pp.365-371. ISSN 0378-1844.
The performance of some elite materials of cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) was evaluated through the agromorphological and biochemical characterization, so as to generate information on the potential of these clones. Experiments were conducted both in vitro and field conditions. In vitro multiplication was possible in all the 19 clones studied, which showed differences in some morphological characteristics, both in roots and foliage. Clones CM 4574-7 and SM 1565-15 showed experimental yield of 18t·ha-1. Of the clones, 93% showed roots with good cooking quality and 80% showed no signs of deterioration four days after harvest. HCN content was low and dry matter content was high, traits that make them suitable for industrial uses. Some of them showed high potential for direct consumption.
