The present paper brings up to the health promotion arena the setting of institutional programs on biosecurity that hold clear interactions with biosafety programs, considering factors that contribute to shape global risks, including biological risks that translate in the menace of pandemics or the quick spread of infectious diseases, whether linked or not to bioterrorism. The authors suggest, in a thorough literature review, the debate on risk monitoring and the interrelationships between biosafety and biosecurity as integrated fields of knowledge related to risk control, such as with regard to bioterrorism and public health issues. It also aims at approaching the subject on a positive basis, addressing public concern issues and helping to keep the country’s good image as well as the prestige of their institutions. This measure may create conditions for public trust in order to foster the improvement of scientific production within the country.
