ABSTRACT
Introduction:
Giant inguinoscrotal hernia is an uncommon and challenging surgical condition, as forced re-insertion of viscera can increase intra-abdominal pressure, leading to compartment syndrome, which can be life-threatening to the patient. Over time, various repair techniques have been described.
Case report:
A 66-year-old male patient presented with bilateral inguinoscrotal hernias and loss of domicile containing bowel and omental tissue. He was treated with TBA as an adjuvant, followed by NPP and repair using the Lichtenstein hernioplasty technique. The patient recovered without any complications.
Conclusion:
The combination of these techniques is effective in the management of hernias with loss of domicile, proving to be safe, well tolerated and associated with a low rate of complications or recurrence.
