In spite of being a traditional crop in the majority of countires in northern and central South America countries there are very few evaluations as to pruning intensities and their effect on yield components in Capsicum chinense. In this research the effects of several pruning intensities on the dynamics of flowering and fruit production were evaluated in plants which were 235 days old. A complete randomized block design with 5 repetitions and three treatments (10 and 15 nodes and no pruning) was used. Dynamics of flowering and fruit production were registered weekly during the 134 days after pruning (dap). Both pruning treatments delayed the period of maximum production plants as compared to that of un-pruned plants during the first 64 dap. Subsequently same behavior of dynamics flowering and fruit production was observed in all treatments. While fruit weight increased with pruning intensity, total production diminished with pruning severity. Number of flowers, fruits and total production did not vary significantly between un-pruned plants and plants pruned at 15 nodes.
