QUIJADA, O; JIMENEZ, O; MATHEUS, M  y  MONTEVERDE, E. Evaluation of lima Tahiti on ten rootstocks on the Maracaibo plain. Rev. Fac. Agron. [online]. 2002, vol.19, n.3, pp.173-184. ISSN 0378-7818.

The objetive of this study was evaluate the yield and fruit quality of Tahiti lime (Citrus latifolia Tan.) in ten rootstocks under climatic condition on the Maracaibo plain. The rootstocks were Volkamer (Citrus volkameriano Pasq.) y Rugoso (Citrus jambhri) lemons; Cleopatra Mandarin (Citrus reshni Hort. Ex Tan); Taiwanica (Citrus taiwanica ); H. Cajero (Citrus arauntifolia L.) oranges; Carrizo (P. trifoliata Raf. X C. sinensis) (Car), Troyer (P. trifoliata X C. sinensis) y Yuma (P. trifoliata X C. sinensis) and Citrumelos Sacatón (C. paradisi X P. trifoliata) y Swingle (C. paradisi Macf. X P. trifoliata Raf.) citrus-oranges over a period of five years. The plants were planted in a 6 x 6 m. arrangement and evaluated using a randomized block experimental design with five replications and two effective plants per experimental unit. Significant difference were found for the rootstocks Volkamer, Cleopatra, Sacaton and Rugoso which presented the high yield, in fruit number and weight per plant, The highest efficiency levels (kg/m3) were found in Rugoso, Hibrid Cajero, Troyer and Cleopatra. While Carrizo, Volkamer and Sacaton were less efficient. Greater tree canopy was found in volkamer and sacaton. In quality characteristics for fruits difference in the weight, height, total soluble solids (TSS), the soluble solid-acidity relation and vitamin C. were significant The results indicated that mandarin Cleopatra showed the best performance over other rootstocks for use on the Maracaibo plains.
