GONZALEZ, R  e  GRATEROL, Y. Performance of 23 grain sorghum hybrids under north-summer conditions in Portuguesa State. Rev. Fac. Agron. [online]. 2003, vol.20, n.3, pp.297-305. ISSN 0378-7818.

During the 2000 growing season, the area cropped with sorghum was increased up to 100.000 hectares. Among the factors that stimulated this situation were new technologies, genetic improvements and the hybrid trials that identified well adapted genotypes. Hybrid trials were conducted at Chorrerones, Turén and Morita in Portuguesa state, Venezuela, with the objective of studying the genotype-environment interaction of several sorghum hybrids. The completely randomized block design with four replications was used at all locations. The means were compared using the least significant difference (at the 5% level of probability). Results showed that several sorghum hybrids had good adaptability and high grain yield potential: XPM-1177 (4.081 kg/ha), MTC-001167 (3.947 kg/ha) and P-82635 (3.659 kg/ha).
