Abstract

VELAZQUEZ, M et al. Stock plant shading and growth time of lateral shoots on the viability of Annona muricata L. explants. Rev. Fac. Agron. [online]. 2004, vol.21, n.1, pp.12-18. ISSN 0378-7818.

With the purpose to improve adult explant viability, the effect of shading and growth time on six-year-old soursop plants were evaluated at CENFRUZU-CORPOZULIA. Six branches per plant were defoliated and shoot tips were removed to induce bud break some of the branches were covered with different polythene sheets to reduce irradiance: 50% and 30%, others were not covered. The growth time was 8, 16 and 24 days after pruning. The experiment involved a 32 factorial arrangement in a Completely Randomized Design with five replications. Statistical differences were obtained for growth time (P<0.05). The results showed that the viability (58.44%) was greater when the shaded shoots were collected 8 days after pruning.

Keywords : Soursop; viability; shading; growth time; in vitro culture; lateral shoots.
