LARREAL, M; JIMENEZ, L; WILHELMUS, P y NOGUERA, N. Micromorphological, morphological, mhysical and chemical aspects of the the Typic Haplargids on the Maracaibo plateau. Rev. Fac. Agron. [online]. 2004, vol.21, n.3, pp.260-267. ISSN 0378-7818.
The micromorphological characterization together with the morphological, physical and chemical evaluation of soils classified as fine loamy Typic Haplargids of the Maracaibo Plain was effected. The samples were taken along traverses within the most representative mapping units of existing semi detailed and detailed soil surveys. The results show the existence of a well defined argillite horizon with evidence of clay removal from the surface horizons and accumulation in the subsoil. Two different phases can be distinguished, one with old thick clay skins and the other with thin recent ones. These results indicate a marked differentiation within the same pedogenetic process associated with climatic changes that have occurred in time as a factor of soil formation.
