An essay was established in the "Miguel Angel Luna Lugo" Experimental Station of the Agricultural Sciences College at the Universidad Centroccidental «Lisandro Alvarado» with the objective to evaluate the interference of Rottboellia cochinchinensis on the height, the number of leaves, the total exposed dry biomass, estimated total yield after plantation, length of the ear of corn, weight of 100 corn grains, number of grains per row in the ear and yield of a corn plantation (Zea mays L.), using an additive method. The design used was of random blocks with five treatments and four replications. The treatments consisted of 0, 2, 4, 8, and 12 R. cochinchinensis plants per square meter respectibly associated with the corn plantation. The different densities of R. cochinchinensis did not significantly the evaluated variables of vegetative development, but had an effect on the estimated yield, length of the ear of corn, number of grains per row in the ear, weight of 100 grains and yield of the corn crop. The losses caused by the weed were 84,76; 72,93; 50,99 and 55.21% for plant densities of 2, 4, 8, and 12 weed plants per square meter. The lowest yield was obtained for the case of 2 plants of R. cochinchinensis per square meter, what leads to believe the presence of a strong specific competition for this species of weed.
