GARCIA AGUILA, L et al. Influence of illumination conditions on germination of somatic embryos of plantain crop hybrid `FHIA-21'.. Rev. Fac. Agron. [online]. 2007, vol.24, n.4, pp.679-689. ISSN 0378-7818.
The germination of the somatic embryos and formation of complete plants is decisive in the efficiency of the massive propagation through the somatic embryogenesis. The conditions of illumination is one of factors of more influence in the germination and it is for that their influence was evaluated in the germination of somatic embryos of cultivating hybrid `FHIA-21'. The mature somatic embryos were placed in growing cameras with solar and artificial illumination. At 15 days the number of germinated embryos and formation of complete plants were evaluated. The influence of the illumination conditions was evidenced in the development of germination process of the somatic embryos. The crop conditions of the controlled-growth environment chamber with artificial light and photoperiod of 16 hours light provided the highest number of germinated embryos (4, 29) and the formation of new somatic embryos from the existent ones, originated by secondary o repetitive embryogenesis.
