This study is part of a research project attached to CONDES at LUZ.  Its main aim is to present an advance of the findings regarding the theme of knowing in Sor Juana’s poetry. To develop this study we have made use of a method for the study of bibliography and newspapers, which we could organize thanks to a research residency at the UNAM. Some of the materials on theory and criticism were Margo Glantz’s (1995) Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz: ¿hagiografía o autobiografía?, Graciela Hierro’s  (2002) De  la  domesticación  a la educación de las mexicana, and Rosa Perelmuter’s (2004) Los límites de la femineidad en Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz. After reading Sor Juana’s poetry, in the light of such materials, we came to the conclusion that it remains relevant, since it contains a theoretical and aesthetic foundation that exerts influence on many researchers and writers of our times.
