Resumen
D`ALESSANDRO BELLO, María Elena. The chronicle, a genre to fix a Caracas of remembrance. Letras [online]. 2010, vol.52, n.82, pp.63-87. ISSN 0459-1283.
This article is a review of the books of chronicles of Caracas published since the 1940 decade, when the transformation of Caracas left behind that city of red roofs to welcome the metropolis of tall buildings. In this sense, the chronicler, aware of the change brewing in his society, recorded the city of his childhood and his adolescence, which is only a personal memoir at the moment of his writing. The literary chronicle stands as a testimony of a before and after of one city that has become another, that broke with an evolution of three centuries to become modern. This article presents the stance of each chronicler in view of a changing city and their awareness of a transformation that was in process, and demonstrates the permanence of a theme that spans other genres, codes, channels and media.
Palabras clave : Caracas; chronicle; urban transformation; XX century.
