This article examines the salient features underlying the literary production of the Brazilian Jorge Amado in the first half of the twentieth century. It also emphasizes that the most notable aspect of this script is placed in the construction of a new image of people and popular culture, the high proportion expressions that came from the new meaning that Jorge Amado made of these categories.
